We are firm believers in using White Shoepeg Corn on the hook. So first of all, we recommend using it
We use dodgers and prefer Sling Blades. When using a lure that has a lot of action on it's own, we use a leader of 30 to 36 inches, Here, the dodger is used as an attractor. When using a lure that has very little or no action on it's own, use a leader about 12 to 18 inches so the dodger will give action to the lure.
We like to troll about 0.7 to 1 mile an hour. But sometimes. we'll get up to around 2 mph if we feel a need to try something different and have caught a fair number of fish at that speed.
We have successfully caught kokes on leadcore using a fluorocarbon leader about 30' feet long between the dodger and the leadcore, but now use a down riggers with the lure about 24 feet back.
