A Little About Wrapping GuidesMore is not always better...as too much thread can interfere with the design of the blank. Proper spacing of the guides on the blank is also most important.
- For a light action freshwater rod, one layer or a "single wrap", is enough.
- For a medium action rod, it is usually (but not always) advisable to double wrap (one base, one holding the guide to the rod) or even a triple wrap if for saltwater use.
- For heavy action saltwater rods, a triple wrap is indicated-a base wrap between the blank and guide feet is used to prevent the guide feet from digging into the blank under heavy loads, such as with Marlin or larger Tuna and two wraps secure the guide feet to the blank.
