A Little About Grips

Factors to be aware of when considering grips include:

  • weight
  • durability
  • sensitivity
  • comfort
  • aesthetic appeal
Materials include:
  • cork rings or preformed cork grips
  • synthetic grip material like EVA or hypalon
  • cork tape
  • synthetic tape
  • a synthetic rear grip called a Slick Butt or Tuff Butt
  • and in the case of our Presentation Rods, exotic woods
When choosing grip material, you should think about the type of fishing you will be doing as well as durability.
Often, a Tuff Skin outer covering is used over foam to provide extra durability as well as a different look.

Foam grips, as well as cork, can be sculpted to suit your functional needs as well as aesthetic appeal . 
For example, a triangular or hourglass shape may fit your hand better than a straight or tapered piece.
